Things To Do in Edinburgh - Daytime Adventures

Today we’re looking at things to do in Edinburgh during the day that is a little bit different. We know that for some of you, it’s not enough to go for a gentle stroll or a take a trip around the shops. So, what we’ve done is try to come up with a few ideas for you to try out yourself.

Hillend Artificial Ski Slope

Located in Midlothian, here, you can have both snowboarding and skiing classes, and these are for all abilities and ages. You can have some slope time too and pay by the hour.

Gorgie City Farm

Then how about spending some quality time on a farm with family? You can go to Gorgie City Farm and you can feed the pets as well as look at them, which should be a lot more interesting, in fact you can even help to look after them on a regular basis. So, if there are any budding vets in your family let me know.

The Union Canal

For a leisurely day on the river where you can travel along on a narrow boat for the 30 miles it takes to get from Falkirk to Fountainbridge. Take in the views and spend time with your family doing something a little different from the usual.

The Voodoo Rooms

With an impressive and eclectic list of things to see and do, such as cabaret, cocktails, burlesque and even DJ sets. The Rat Pack bar is hidden away in a basement where you’ll get a taste of 50s music and you’ll be able dance and drink until the early hours of the morning. You’ll find the Rat Pack at 9 Shandwick Place and The Voodoo Rooms at 19a West Register Street.

Bryant & Mack

This may look like a private detective agency, it is in fact a bar with speakeasy style offering its visitors classic cocktails. Your menu comes to in an envelope so you can discover the surreptitious delight of the evenings cocktails. You’ll find Bryant & Mack on Rose Street North Lane.

The Caves

Located inside some old vaults where you can capture live music events for a couple of nights in the week. You’ll find it at 8-10 Niddry Street South.

Escape Edinburgh

If you’re looking for something really different, then try the escape rooms here at Escape Edinburgh where you can lock yourself in a room for 60 minutes with like-minded individuals. Once you’re locked in to one of our themed rooms, you’ll need to solve cryptic clues and you’ll need some sharp problem-solving skills to get out. Some of the themed rooms are Area 51, Contagion and the Darker Side of Edinburgh.
