When the organisers of Bloody Scotland got in touch about us running a pop up escape room at the crime writing festival we were excited. We were even more excited by the idea of working with Val Mcdermid in coming up with a storyline for the escape room.
After a quick chat with Val the scene was set. Your team are a group of trainee profilers, the legendary Tony Hill could not be reached and you are first on the scene. All is not as it seems, however(is it ever?). You have been lured into a trap. With thirty minutes counting down on the explosive device there is only one thing that will disarm the bomb. The killers identity.
The teams valiantly set about determining the identity through a series of puzzles and challenges laid by the by the killer. Toying with the groups seemed to be one of the suspects favourite activities.
Thankfully most of our groups managed to save the Golden Lion and the festival itself. Although we did have one group destroy the hotel with a typo....
The groups were a pleasure to run and as a taster for escape rooms it worked really well. Thanks to Bloody Scotland and Val McDermid for letting us be part of the festival.
